Summary of Research Interests

Our research aims to understand the function of biological macromolecules and their complexes in terms of their detailed molecular structure as revealed by single crystal x-ray diffraction analysis. Analyses of these data involve application of molecular modeling, and computational chemistry. Genetic recombinant methods are used to prepare variations of molecular structures in order to test hypotheses about how function is correlated to structure. The protein families currently under investigation in my laboratory include:

a. Bioluminescent proteins from marine organisms b. Organophosphorus acid anhydrolases (insecticide-ases) c. Clara cell proteins and uteroglobins d. Phospholipases e. Zinc metalloproteins
