Chemistry is a basic science that is continually making important
contribution to technological and social progress. The Department of Chemistry
offers a variety of programs to satisfy a wide range of student career
interests. Majors in chemistry will find upper-level chemistry classes
small with close student-faculty working relationships. Advanced
undergraduates are encouraged to participate in current research projects under
faculty guidance.
The professional program, which is designed to prepare students for either
graduate study or employment as practicing chemists, offers a B.S. degree.
Other B.A./B.S. program options are: biochemistry, offered jointly by the
Departments of Chemistry and Biology; secondary school chemistry teaching,
offered jointly by the Departments of Chemistry and Education; BS in
Environmental Chemistry.
